Memories From The Rimefire Invasion 1

Our sky was beautiful. We use to look up at the darkness and feel no joy. The Dragons saw this and they made a planet for us to look up to. They told us it was named Moon...

We would build telescopes, we would look at that rock in the sky so close and yet so far. We would wonder and discuss and look up to it as a sign of hope. One day we'll reach out of this land and touch down on the surface of Moon we would tell ourselves.

We were prepping a ship. Our best and brightest would be the first to kick of and touch the lands of the gods. I dreamed of joining them one day. Of looking out and seeing our entire world below me and the Dragons, my gods, next to me. I wanted to smell the air of Moon. To stand on another planet and know that everything is alien to me.

And then they came from the sky and our whole world was destroyed.

They came in ships of metal that seemed more beast that boat. They crashed down on our Earth and destroyed swaths of land below their feet. They wore bodies of metal and carried weapons beyond imagining.

They came from Moon. They called themselves humans. They asked to be taken to our leaders and then they tore down our nations and they proclaimed us conquered.

I watched them crush my house from inside one of their metal beasts. I looked in their eyes as they loaded us into their ships and I saw a cold blank stare.

The first time I saw Earth was from the inside of the lower decks of their metal ships. The next time I saw it was from the skies above Moon as I was being pushed into a pen.

And The Day Will Come

And the day will come
when everything we've built is gone
when every book is turned to ash
when every body is underground

And the day will come
when all we have is history
when all we do is look back
when all we want is to live in the past

And the day will come
when the stars grow dark
when the light of civilization goes out
when the spark of life is gone

And the day will come
when the sky is clear and blue
when the day is warm and the wind cool and perfect
when the moon is full and beautiful

And the day will come
when we show compassion
when we do the right thing
when we enjoy the day

And the day will come
when we stop looking to the future
and realize that the day is now

Harold 1

Harold walked in. Everyone knocked on Her door but Harold was special. She was the only one Harold could trust anymore. She knew this and She took advantage of it whenever She could. The room inside was nothing like the hole it was in. The hole was nothing more than a few linked caves in the ground with a few supports added here and there. Her room was cramped with reams and reams of used paper covering the hardwood floor. Old plans, forgotten war stories, a chapter here and there from that book She was always going to write. The hole was used as a listening post and as a safe house for assassins who needed to disappear fast. Her room was lined with bookcases with novels about everything from castle architecture to botany to stone languages. She sat in the center of the room playing with an apple. An empty chair and a tipped table nearby.

"I see you still haven't picked up." Harold said as he stepped over a pile of worn books and onto a stack of filled medical forms. "How long have we known each other?" She said half conscious of Harold's presence, have lost in thought. "Yes, my trip went well, I didn't have too much trouble getting here thanks for asking." He picked up the table and took the seat next to Her. "How long have we known each other?" She continued to throw the apple in the air to keep herself busy, She had not turned to look at Harold yet.

"Well we 'met' about two months ago but I'm pretty sure I've seen you before that. Just the nature of the job though."
"My doctor sent over an update on my condition." She put the apple between them and reached down to the floor for some relatively crisp papers with illegible handwriting. "and let me guess, your condition isn't improving, they still can't identify the problems, and they sent over new medicine." She let the pages she was holding fall to the floor.

Harold reached into his coat and pulled out 3 pistols, 6 knives, a few vials of poison, and a gold ring with a royal seal on it. "He didn't suffer."
"I asked you to make him suffer."
"Then don't pay me and don't hire me again" She smiled and looked between them. "Only three pistols? Are you getting slow old man?"
"I wish, if I were just getting old i could scavenge around for enough junk to buy some Saffier."
"Saffier? Do you really believe that shit about fountain of youth flowers"
"Oh shut up miss 'One day I'll have an orchard.'"
"Fuck off! and I will have one, a big one, thousands of acres! It'll be so big I'll get fucking lost in my own garden."

Harold laughed for a moment until his eye caught sight of the weapons he put down. Two of them had half a clip, the third only had one in the chamber, 25 rounds total. "It's getting harder and harder to find ammunition these days. The old towns are picked clean and the traders know it... do you think I could borrow a few rounds from your stock?"
"I don't let my men carry guns, they are dishonorable and teach that war is simple and clean. It creates dishonest men and I will not have dishonest men fight for my cause." She tried to keep a strait face through her speech but Harold could tell She was holding back a smile. "Just as the quartermaster then?"
"yeah, she'll have something for you."

Inversion RPG Setting Questions

If you existed in a universe where your thoughts become reality, would that make you change your thoughts? Would you worry about what thoughts creep into your head? Would you join a religion and pray because you believe in that god or because you fear that god will act?

Untitled 2

Before the man can be described, the world he came into must be detailed. The world, so complex, so endless and so old. The world was once great, once amazing and spectacular, perhaps even now still amazing in its own way.

There was an event, a very simple event. An event that started so small that many thought it a publicity stunt. It seemed so impossible, so unreal.

It was a simple thing, very simple when you think about it. So simplet yet its meaning would resonate across the world in a matter of seconds.

An angle fell to the Earth.

Not from space, not from beyond the planet but from above. The clouds did part and from its holy light did fall the winged creature. It fell over the atlantic but never touched the water. It just sat above the waves of blue. Its white form coming down to Earth but never touching it.

In one hand it held a sword, in the other it held a message. Its face was covered in blood and its body full of bruises. Its voice resonated across the lands as it read the message. Simple and short message:

The age of man is over.

The event and years that followed became known as The Crash.

The man who would one day be called Hero was born into the ruins left after The Crash. Proof, it seems, that even the divine cannot defeat the human will to survive.

OOC: Update

OOC: Out Of Character

This is not related to any story going on. It's kinda meta, as in me the author actually talking to you and such.

Right then, the reason I haven't posted anything recently is because of TF2 going Free To Play and the Uber Update getting me all addicted again. Sorry about that.

For those curious the We Are post are posted as they occur in the story. Dave is suppose to post every day and the rest as their story develops but, yeah, Uber update. By Next week Wednesday I'll have things running smoothly again.

Sorry for the delay all 0 people who read this.

Untitled 1

There was a city.
The city was called                      . The city was beautiful and wonderful and well known throughout the world. So big and so old. Destroyed once before and rebuilt.

There is a city.
The city is called Old Town. Before the crash it was a business capitol of the world. Before the horrors of the modern age the city was one of the most populated in the world.

There will be a graveyard.
The graveyard will be called Old Town. After being rebuilt, after suffering for years under crazed ruler after crazed ruler. After being abandoned by all but the poorest and the oldest. After all that, one man will cause this. This one man will be one of the nicest people you will meet and he will save so many lives. This one man will be called a hero. This one man will give Old Town one last moment of glory.

This is a story.
This is the story of that man and of the things he did in Old Town.
